Original Sin was born out of a New York experience
In 1997, Original Sin’s founder, Gidon Coll, set out on a mission to create a great American cider, both dry and natural. He extensively researched the history of cider and cider making and soon began sourcing the best apples and yeast strains. Supported by a local wine expert, he began mixing and testing in a small upstate New York winery, and brought his samples to NYC bars each week for feedback from owners, managers, and patrons. After six months, the first batch of O.S. was released to establishments in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Soon after, the product received critical acclaim from sources as diverse as The New York Times, New York Post, Paper Magazine, and Market Watch. Today, you can find our unique and acclaimed ciders in over half the country, with more regions being added every month.
Original Sin is a crisp, clean cider that allows the natural flavors of the apple to speak for itself. Original Sin is a refreshing cider that can be enjoyed in a pub or a fine restaurant, or as a mixed drink.

In the beginning… the Original Bottle Label
The first Original Sin bottles featured a 16-inch hand applied snake-skin label. The label application process was tedious, to say the least. The founder enlisted friends to help each week in the label-applying process. As the temperature dropped in the manufacturing facility in Upstate and the numbers of willing volunteers diminished, the Company eventually switched to a more conventional machine applied label design.
